O LORD God of hosts, who is mighty as you are,
O LORD, with your faithfulness all around you? (Psalm 89:8).
God always does what He says He will do. He is forever faithful, never forgetting a promise. The hundreds of prophecies in Scripture that have been fulfilled through the ages stand as a powerful testimony to His perfect faithfulness.
From our limited human perspective, we may have times when we feel as if God has forgotten us. As we face trials that appear to have no solution, we may find ourselves wrongly concluding that God isn’t answering our prayers. When we wonder why God seems unresponsive, we can lean on the following truths and rest assured of God’s faithfulness to us:
God’s love and mercies are never-ending. Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Every day begins with a new supply of God’s goodness. Even when we cannot see how He is sustaining us, we have the promise that He is.
God’s presence with you is constant. At all times, God is with you. It’s impossible to escape His presence (Psalm 139:7-10). Nothing can remove us from His hand (John 10:28-29). In Matthew 28:20, Christ said, “I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
God’s promises will never fail. In 1 Kings 8:56, we read that of all God’s promises to Israel, “not one word has failed.” Because God’s character is constant and unchanging, this truth applies to believers as well. God will keep every promise He has made to us. He is able to do so because He is fully sovereign over all things.
Though we can never be certain about life, we can always be certain about God. As Psalm 89:8 says, His faithfulness surrounds Him. And it surrounds you too.
